The NSW Ice Hockey Association Inc. adopted the Model Rules of the Associations Incorporation Act 1984 as its Constitution at a Special General Meeting held on 10 December 2000, prior to the official 2000 AGM.
Amendments were subsequently made to the Model Rules at Special General Meetings (SGMs) in 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007, and included:
- The staggering of elections for the Committee of Management (2001 SGM);
- Election of Ordinary Members to the Committee of Management from nominations put forward at each AGM, with one nomination per club (2001 SGM);
- Club affiliation requirements (2003 SGM By-Laws);
- Child protection provisions (2003 SGM By-Laws);
- Tribunal processes (2006 and 2007 SGM By-Laws); and
- State Team Representative selection (2007 SGM By-Laws).
To ensure the Association continues to meet contemporary governance best practices and remains eligible for funding through the Office of Sport, IHNSW conducted a further Special General Meeting on 31 May 2026 to consider and adopt an updated Constitution.
The proposed Constitution was successfully adopted by members at the SGM and took effect immediately. This updated Constitution provides a modern governance framework that supports the ongoing growth, transparency and sustainability of IHNSW.
The current Constitution is available for download below.
