The 17U (Midget) Ice Hockey League is for male and female players aged 17U under the guidelines set out in the IHNSW Handbook. It is a competitive grade where athletes represent NSW at the prestigious Tange National Championships. The competition is officiated under full checking rules, with the primary focus of the check being to gain possession of the puck. Officials strictly penalise any illegal actions such as boarding, charging, cross-checking, or late body checks to players no longer in control of the puck.
