The Sydney Sirens are excited to announce tryouts for the upcoming Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL). The AWIHL is the top female competition in Australia.
The regular season will consist of 10 home games (played out of Erina Rink) and 10 away games requiring interstate travel – 20 games in total.
The competition runs from October/November 2026 through to the Finals Series Feb/March 2027.
TRYOUT COST $45
IHNSW will run the tryouts with independent selectors.
Tryout 1: Sunday 23rd August 5pm-6pm LCC
Tryout 2: Sunday 30th August 230pm-330pm HISS
Invitation only 3rd tryout: Sunday 6th September 845am-945am MAC
Eligibility: The team is made up of predominantly Australian citizens and permanent residents. Non-citizens must also have a processed International Transfer Card (ITC) – not required for tryouts. There are import number restrictions per game.
Age: The AWIHL is an “Open Age” competition with a minimum age of fifteen (15) years. The player must turn 15 years old by 11:59pm 31 December of the year they start playing AWIHL games. A player aged 14 years can participate in training with AWIHL teams. Players that accept their position in the team are expected to be available for all trainings and game weekends. If you know you are away for a period of longer than 2 weeks we require you to email the team before tryouts begin.
Trainings: Erina on Tuesday nights 930pm-1030pm – Starting September 2026 and additional training TBC
Games:
5 HOME weekends. Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning/afternoon (10 games total)
5 AWAY weekends. Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning/afternoon (10 games total)
Cost: Approximate cost to participate $4000 includes home and away player uniforms). This is an estimate only. Total cost to be confirmed.
