Role
Ice Hockey New South Wales (IHNSW) is the governing body for ice hockey in New South Wales, responsible for fostering the growth, development, and governance of the sport across the state.
As a Member Association of Ice Hockey Australia (IHA), IHNSW oversees participation at all levels—from grassroots programs introducing new players to the sport, to elite pathways for athletes competing at national and international levels (both Able and Para).
In addition to managing local leagues, IHNSW ensures the sport is inclusive, accessible, and aligned with national and international standards. Our role extends beyond competition to include governance, officiating, coaching development, and community engagement—ensuring that ice hockey continues to thrive in NSW.
Mission
To promote, facilitate and control the sport of Ice Hockey in New South Wales, towards the goal of a becoming a headline sport of international standard.
Objectives
- Facilitate the growth of the sport throughout metro and regional NSW.
- Provide a comprehensive range of services to affiliated clubs and members.
- Ensure appropriate training for all players and officials.
- Create an enjoyable and safe playing experience for all participants.
- Encourage and support the formation of new clubs.
- Promote the sport of Ice Hockey to the NSW market – both private and corporate.
- Demonstrate good policy-driven corporate governance.
