The Sydney Sirens are excited to announce tryouts for the upcoming Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL). The AWIHL is the top female competition in Australia.

The regular season will consist of 10 home games (played out of Macquarie Ice Rink) and 10 away games requiring interstate travel – 20 games in total.

The competition runs from November 2025 through to the Finals Series Feb 28/March 1 2026.

TRYOUT COST $25
IHNSW will run the tryouts with independent selectors.

Tryout 1: Sunday 21st September 3.15pm Erina Ice Rink
Tryout 2: Saturday 27th September 5pm Hunter Ice Skating Stadium – attendance INVITATION ONLY

Eligibility:
The team is made up of predominantly Australian citizens and permanent residents. Non-citizens must also have a processed International Transfer Card (ITC) – not required for tryouts. In the AWIHL teams are allowed to play 3 imports every game and roster 4. Players and Goalies must be at least 15 by December 31st 2025.

A player aged 14 may participate in tryouts and, if successful, may participate in training.

Age:
Open to players born 2010 (2011 for training) and above who are passionate about competing at the highest level.

Players that accept their position in the team are expected to be available for all trainings and game weekends. If you know you are away for a period of longer than 2 weeks we require you to email the team before tryouts begin.

5 HOME weekends. Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning (10 games total)
5 AWAY weekends. Saturday afternoon & Sunday morning (10 games total)

Cost:
Approximate cost to participate $3800 (includes home and away player uniforms). This is an estimate only. Total cost to be confirmed.
