IHNSW will not be sending a team to compete in the International Quebec Peewee Tournament in February 2024.
After a thorough assessment, it is not viable for us to send an Ice Crocs team to the upcoming tournament. The decision is based on the following objective considerations:
- Lack of Expressions of Interest: Despite our efforts to solicit interest from eligible players, there has been a notably low number of players and families expressing interest in participating in the tournament.
- Inadequate Resources: In order to field a competitive team and provide the necessary support and infrastructure for the players, a minimum level of interest and commitment is essential. Regrettably, the current level of interest does not provide the resources needed to ensure a competitive and meaningful participation.
- Financial Implications: Participation in the Tournoi International Hockey Pee-Wee Quebec involves significant financial commitments, including travel expenses, accommodation and other associated costs. The limited interest and potential financial burden on the players’ families make it unfeasible to proceed.
Ice Hockey NSW remains committed to fostering the growth and development of ice hockey in our State. However, we must make decisions that align with our resources and the overall benefit to the young athletes. Given the circumstances, it is not in the best interest of our organisation or the participating players to proceed with a team that lacks the necessary player numbers required of this tournament.
We understand the importance Quebec Tournament and deeply regret that we are unable to participate this year. We value the tournament’s significance in the development of young ice hockey players.
It is our hope that in the future, we can revisit the possibility of participating and providing a meaningful experience for our athletes.
IHNSW appreciate your understanding of our decision regarding this tournament.
