Quebec Tournament 2024

IHNSW will not be sending a team to compete in the International Quebec Peewee Tournament in February 2024.

After a thorough assessment, it is not viable for us to send an Ice Crocs team to the upcoming tournament. The decision is based on the following objective considerations:

  1. Lack of Expressions of Interest: Despite our efforts to solicit interest from eligible players, there has been a notably low number of players and families expressing interest in participating in the tournament.
  1. Inadequate Resources: In order to field a competitive team and provide the necessary support and infrastructure for the players, a minimum level of interest and commitment is essential. Regrettably, the current level of interest does not provide the resources needed to ensure a competitive and meaningful participation.
  1. Financial Implications: Participation in the Tournoi International Hockey Pee-Wee Quebec involves significant financial commitments, including travel expenses, accommodation and other associated costs. The limited interest and potential financial burden on the players’ families make it unfeasible to proceed.

Ice Hockey NSW remains committed to fostering the growth and development of ice hockey in our State. However, we must make decisions that align with our resources and the overall benefit to the young athletes. Given the circumstances, it is not in the best interest of our organisation or the participating players to proceed with a team that lacks the necessary player numbers required of this tournament.

We understand the importance Quebec Tournament and deeply regret that we are unable to participate this year. We value the tournament’s significance in the development of young ice hockey players.

It is our hope that in the future, we can revisit the possibility of participating and providing a meaningful experience for our athletes.

IHNSW appreciate your understanding of our decision regarding this tournament.

QUEBEC INTERNATIONAL PEEWEE TOURNAMENT ICE CROCS 2024 EOI

The Quebec International Peewee Tournament will be held at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City from Feb 7th to 18th 2024 https://www.tournoipee-wee.qc.ca/en/page/the_tournament/general_information.html

IHNSW has submitted an application to send the Ice Crocs. We will not know until approximately October 20th 2023 whether we have been accepted.

All players will be billeted in pairs with local volunteer families during this tournament.

Preliminary budget for the trip is approximately $6500 per player. This cost includes all travel, limited team activities in Canada, non-billeted accommodation, meals and Tournament fees. There may be some fund-raising activities that we will hold to help contribute to the above costs but these activities may not take place before the full payment is required. This cost is based on billeting and will be confirmed after the team is accepted.

The tournament is open to players (girls & boys) born in the 2011 and 2012 calendar years.

This is a competitive tournament and the style of hockey played is vastly different to that played in our NSW competition.  To prepare, the team will be training most weeks and it is critical to the performance of individuals and the team that all players attend all training sessions.  The cost of these training sessions will be determined shortly when ice time in finalised and the costs deducted from the deposit paid.

There will be no refunds for missed training sessions.

IHNSW will require players to meet the minimum standard of playing skill level, as well as behaviour expectations of a travelling team.

IHNSW reserves the right to select players from other Australian States to complete the team roster if required. Tryout payment is required regardless of attendance to be eligible for selection.

If you are interested in attending, IHNSW is collecting expressions of interest at this stage. Once we have a confirmation on our team acceptance, tryouts will be scheduled for late October.

REGISTER EOI HERE by 21st October 2023.

IHNSW reserve the right to not accept the invitation should the number of applicants of appropriate standard fall below the relevant threshold.
