REFEREES – 2024 SEASON

Welcome to the 2024 IHNSW Winter Season. I hope everyone is excited and ready to hit the ice.

Please note the following changes for this season:

  • 15U is now a full-checking competition. Please officiate this league as per a full-checking rules in accordance with the IHA Officiating Standard.
  • 13U is now a modified body checking competition. Checking is permitted, as long as the check is from the side and the player is aiming to separate player from puck. North-South hits are not permitted.
  • 11U Squirts: players are permitted to score only 3 goals. If a player scores a 4th goal, the scorekeeper will advise the referee, the goal will not count, and the face-off will take place in the end-zone of the team that just scored. Non-offending team can select side for face-off.

NSW State Teams – TRYOUTS

Registration HERE

To be eligible for selection you must be Australian citizens, permanent residents or have a visa valid for a minimum of two years.  Non-citizens must also have a processed International Transfer Card (ITC).

IHNSW will run the first 2 tryouts with independent selectors. A 3rd tryout invitation squad will then be named. After the squad is named, IHNSW will open expressions of interest for the Head Coach and Team Manager.

Players selected to the team must be available for all games and as such are not able to join the team part way through the tournament. Any players serving a suspension at any level will need approval from IHNSW.

Players must make every effort to attend all tryouts. Players who cannot attend any tryout (injury, living overseas, etc.) must register online and email an expression of interest with detailed explanation to the IHNSW office, including evidence of playing ability/letter of recommendation. IHNSW will keep a register of all players who have tried out, what try-outs they have been in attendance for, and what ones they only EOI’d for.

IHNSW will provide selectors to evaluate and select players from the tryouts. Input may be sought from Club Team coaches but it is to your advantage to attend both tryouts. It is essential players wear a jersey with a number on it and preferably your name. You must wear the same jersey to both tryouts. The selectors will be identifying you by what you are wearing and it needs to correspond to the jersey listed.

Team members will be required to stay in team accommodation with Team Officials for the duration of the tournament. There will be charges to cover the tournament entry fees, accommodation, food, flights and bus hire. A detailed budget will be released to the team after selection.

It is a requirement that selected players attend ALL Training sessions which are held in the 7 weeks leading into the tournament. If a player is unavailable over this period, they must disclose in writing to IHNSW before Tryout 1. Players currently participating overseas must contact IHNSW to discuss.
